General Terms & Conditions

Currency & Exchange Rates

All rates and prices quoted are in New Zealand dollars (NZD) - the official currency of the Cook Islands.
 

Government Taxes

All prices include all Cook Island government-imposed taxes and 15% Value Add Tax (VAT), subject to change, unless otherwise stated.
 

Apartment Rates

All apartment rates are per night and are inclusive of:

  • UV-treated and filtered water
  • Ice making in your freezer
  • Use of shared swimming pool, outdoor furniture, BBQ and facilities
  • Apartment linen change every 4th day 

 

Note: On arrival, you will receive a Kia Orana Welcome Pack of fresh tropical fruit, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits/cookies, oil, salt, pepper, mosquito coils, insect spray, two rolls of toilet paper and liquid soap. 

If these items run out, please top them up yourself. 

We provide all cleaning items, fly spray and washing powder.
 

3rd Party Bookings

If booking with 3rd party booking Apps e.g. Booking.com, AirBnB or Expedia, the terms and conditions provided by that booking 3rd party will apply. Please read their conditions carefully. 

Cancellations, changes and amendments must be made via the original 3rd party booking app. Muri Retreat cannot make any changes directly.
 

Right of Refusal

We reserve the right to accept or refuse any booking.
 

Promotions & Discounts

Promotions and discounts are offered at the owner's discretion.

System or Information Error

Reservations may be amended/cancelled by us in case of computer, website or system error resulting in incorrect apartment rate/details. We will advise you as soon as possible.

 

Accommodation Terms & Conditions

Minimum Stays

All apartments have a minimum stay of 3 nights unless approved by owners prior.

Check-in/Check-out

  • Check-in - 2.00 pm
  • Check out – 10.00 am

Early Check-in or Late Check-out

To guarantee an early morning check-in or late evening check-out, we recommend that accommodation be reserved one night before arrival or extend the check-out date an additional night.

This costs $25 per hour, $75 for 4 hours and beyond 4 hours requires booking an additional night.

Subject to availability and charged at the owner's discretion.
 

Child Policy

Muri Retreat will not accept a reservation if there is not at least 1 adult (over 18 ys) staying.

Infants 2 years & under stay free (when sharing with an adult (with existing bedding).

A Port-a-cot is available at an additional cost (per night)

Limit of 1 complimentary infant per room.

Children between the ages of 2 to 13 are considered included in the 2 personal room rate or by owner discretion when communicated in advance. Additional charges will occur.

Payment Terms & Conditions

Prepayments

A fully refundable 25% deposit is required to confirm a reservation with the balance due 14 days before arrival. 

Reservation Confirmation

All confirmation of reservations will be made in writing via email. Verbal or other confirmations are not valid.
 

Credit Card Fees

All payments made via credit card - including payments for accommodation and activities, at Muri Retreat, will incur a non-refundable 2.9% administrative fee.
 

Cancellation Policies

  • Cancellation up to 14 days before arrival date will be fully refunded. 
  • Cancellation within 14 days of arrival date incurs a 100% forfeit of the total booking amount.
  • 3rd party booking Apps may have differnet conditions and these will be honoured.

All cancellations must be acknowledged by return e-mail from us.
 

Covid Cancellation Policy

Muri Retreat will offer a full credit, valid for a period of 1 year from arrival date, in the case of cancellation due to;

• Government-imposed border closures due to COVID or

• International travel restriction not allowing travel to or from Rarotonga, Cook Islands.

• Unable to travel due to a positive COVID test result which results in the passenger not being permitted to fly (medical certificate and airline confirmation required)

If amending the booking date, the original apartment rate will be honoured if the amended arrival date booked is within 12 months of the original booking arrival date.

Guests Responsibility - Cancellation notes

Should Muri Retreat have to cancel bookings due to events beyond their control, all monies paid as a deposit shall be refunded in full. The person(s) booking shall have no further claims against Muri Retreat.

No compensation will be issued for flight delays, missed flights, illness, family matters or any other circumstances.

We recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance to mitigate any travel disruptions, changes or unforeseen incidents that may result in the guest incurring additional costs. 

Note: Booking via our website allows guests to purchase comprehensive travel insurance for 10% of their room costs using www.refundable.me
